Helping you gain confidence in your writing

FAQs

Are you a native English speaker?

Yes.

I’m not fluent in English. Can you help me translate my words into English?

What I offer here is English editing. Thus, translation is outside the scope of my services. However, I can help fix errors in your “non-fluent” English and ensure that your English manuscript is grammatically sound and submission-ready.

Do you provide an editing certificate?

Yes and only when I’ve edited your document. I can also sign your university’s language editing certification upon request.

How long will it take you to finish editing a document?

Unlike large, fast-paced English editing companies, I do not outsource the editing of your document to anyone. I do all the work alone—there’s no customer service representative who communicates with you and then dispatch your document to a “specialty” editor who, running on caffeine, will then whip up an edited manuscript in 36 hours to serve your order. I advocate slow, mindful research and resist the fast culture in academia. What does this mean for you? This means that when you work with me, we will set expectations and boundaries and honor them. We will set reasonable deadlines and work together with care. You will communicate directly with me and not with a separate client manager. This way, we will have a more personal author–editor relationship (some past clients have appreciated my editing as like coaching).

What research topics do you work on?

Any! As a budding academic myself, I enjoy reading research manuscripts from various nationalities. However, as a vegan who’s doing research on animal ethics, I will not work with researchers who use animals in research labs. Sorry not sorry!

Is my manuscript/document safe with you?

Absolutely! Edit Fellow offers a safe space for researchers. Rest assured that our correspondence and your manuscript will be treated as confidential. I respect your privacy and will never share your work with other people.

What if I’m not happy with your work? Do you issue a refund?

I doubt you will be unhappy with my work. Most, if not all, of my past clients have always found my work helpful and satisfactory. Nonetheless, in the event that you are not happy with my initial work, I promise to improve it in the next rounds. Note that all of my services offer unlimited rounds of editing over a period of 180 days. In the event that you’re still not satisfied with my work and wish to discontinue my services, I will give you a refund as follows:

  • 30% of the total fee if we’ve worked together for less than 90 days (that is, less than half of 180 days)
  • 20% of the total fee if we’ve worked together for 90 days or more (that is, half or more than half of 180 days)

Please note that I cannot issue a full refund because that will be unfair to the work I’ve done. I deeply value my clients’ work because I know their work is important to them. Thus, when I work on their manuscripts, I do so with utmost care and seriousness. I make sure that I understand their needs, help them the best way that I can, and deliver a service that they will find highly valuable and satisfactory.

What are your modes of payment?

At the moment, I only receive payments via PayPal and wire transfer (transfer between bank accounts).
